Engine Engraved Plate

Hi i read about the guy on this thread who makes engraved engine plates tried to contact him on his facebook page but he did not reply anyone know of any other guys who will oblige ?.

They need to be laser engraved, needle engraving won't work. If it was Jürgen Hieronymus it takes a good while to respond as it isn't his sole business. These are the proofs he did for me. I didn't go with him as he didn't reply in over a week, but if his work is as good as the mock ups then it may be worth it. There are other sellers doing similar plates made in the same way as the 1800 badge, they are normally about €220.

I can't attest for the quality as I don't get them until next week. Here is the small sized trial print on a actual plate.

Update 18/06/24:

I attended a Club event at the weekend in extreme rain. By the following Tuesday, one of them was starting to rust along the edge of the powder coating. It must be a flawed process as although I asked for a replacement, they refunded me instead saying that their whole stock of blanks were "contaminated". On this basis my recommendation is withdrawn.

As an alternative, I purchased a plate on EBay that fits around the badge and had it engaged.

Got the plates today...3 days from posting. They aren't as good as the built up plates and of course they aren't coloured simply engraved silver. They look okay, I guess I was hoping for "more" but you don't get more on the cheap! I say cheap these were €150 shipped.

Sorry to hear that buddy. They do look good from your pictures.
Not related to the badges but related to rust, I noticed the other day that two of the rivets on the front mudguard are rusting. It has affected the same rivets, left and right and they are the ones by the steering column. Because my bike is painted white it is quite noticeable. The rust seems to come from the inside of the mudguard, so I reckon I will need to take the thing of, inspect, remove any rust from the inside and coat with primer/anti rust paint and clean the outside as much as I can to remove any rust stains. It should not have happened so soon but it is what it is.

Sorry to hear that bud. I have (had?) high hopes for the all year round capability of the finish.

I guess nothing is perfect. I do coat my bike with anti rust spray after every wash and the underneath was coated with ACF -50 the best I could given the amount of metal on the bike. I ride all year round, hence the usage of rust inhibitors. The front mudguard is a bit deep so coating the inside with the wheel on is tricky. I will bite the bullet and do it properly.
