I just did the 6500mile service on my Transcontinental.

I love the bike, but there are some complaints.
The vibration in the handle bars, it puts my hands to sleep on long trips. I have to wear palm padded gloves.
It takes forever for the app to connect to the bike with navigation.
The radio doesn't start at where you left off, every time you restart the bike you have to change the source
A couple times I've had some warnings and system errors pop up, quick fix is to pull the 50 amp fuse on the side and put it back in, it seems to reset the system warnings.
The big lean angle on the kickstand is horrible for such a heavy machine, I put the Landing Gear on and never use the kickstand anymore.
You can't set the cruise control over 100 mph (I'm just saying)
Side boxes are small with the speakers, and limited storage for long trips with a rear passenger... I'm having a custom hidden hitch made with a luggage rack for my wife's belongings.
I thought the limited leg movement room would be an issue, but it isn't. I lifted the front shift peg up so my foot slides underneath and I have the leg rests installed.

Do u use and like the leg rest? For for grins and giggles try changing rider mode to rain or rock or roll for that matter and see if any of those lessen the vibes at the given speeed you're having issues

Hum...storage space that is a fact, fuse pulling that is worrying, TFT issues...get in line (my guess) :)
Though to, others have posted when they tell the dealer they're having issues the dealer will do a download to update the but to Motorrad system but that can take many many many hours is my understanding

Well at least with 6500 miles on the bike the honeymoon phase is over and you decided to stay married to it so that's good

Information on landing gear
please.
how long to install?
The Landing Gear comes from a company in Korea. They are called Flex Gear.

They cost $4700. They were delivered within 2 weeks via DHL but know that DHL will not deliver them until you pay the tax (I don't remember how much that was)
The install was rather easy and in all took me about 2 - 3 hours, mostly with the wiring. The video instructions on youtube are great but they speed and skip through the wiring to the battery and the auxiliary fuse. If you are not good with wiring you might need some help, otherwise it was a simple install.

The Landing Gears control buttons mount is HORRIBLE and I rigged something different myself. The way it comes the bracket wraps around the grip and interferes with the BMW Wonder Wheel Control. I cut the bracket in half and bought some wrap around brackets (Brackets are from Amazon, I have attached a picture of them) and placed the Landing Gear controls under the clutch fluid box on the left side of the handle bars. After riding with it there for over 4000 miles I do believe that is the perfect spot for it.
... Practice with the gear... they are ankle breakers if you don't know what you are doing... never put your feet down, EVER, when they are deployed. They are meant to have some give and you will rock a tiny bit to the left or right, but this is by design to allow for small bumps, uneven road, and turns, just trust them that you are not tipping over and NEVER put your feet down. You will notice in one picture the Landing Gear is not touching the ground. I that picture the bike is on uneven slopped ground and is completely stable without the kickstand. When you get on the bike the bike drops down and they are flush.
I use them in rush hour, bumper to bumper, traffic but never over 10 mph (or until I just get too tired of the traffic and lane split or jump on the shoulder). They are mostly a parking aid.

I've been riding a long time, currently, besides the Transcontinental, I have a couple Harley's, one Turbo Charged Softail and a Road King (included a picture)

The Landing Gear is a ton of money, but worth it.

I hope this helps.

If you don't mind, could you post a picture of the hitch when it is ready .. I am thinking of a trailer myself and need some ideas :)

The hitch is in the concept phase right now. My fabricator is looking at the RIVCO HIDDEN HITCH WITH VERTICAL RECEIVER and seeing what he can do to modify it, re-enforce it, and increase the tongue weight, and make it work for the Transcontinental. It is going to be a winter project so won't have the final product until next season.

No worries .. I am not looking for something immediate, I am planning on doing the manufacturing myself ... so it will be a slow process :) ... just looking for 'inspiration' I will have a look at the 'RIVCO' thanks for posting that.

EDIT: I just looked at that ... it looks a lot like what a friend has on his Victory ... I can get some inspiration there as well ... thanks a bunch!

This was my inspiration, but I have found no way to contact these guys as they are somewhere uncontactable...

Kuryakyn makes one too (besides RIVCO) I'm not sure which one I'm going to use, but my understanding is that the rivco might be the more sturdy unit.

Thank you for the write up. Gives me something to think about.

I will follow up with the radio issue after the service, as the shop told me that the new software update takes care of the radio not remembering where you left off issue... just assume if I don't repost on that issue that the software update fixed the issue. I will let you guys/gals know only if it doesn't.

Ahh I see .. nice luggage rack ... but that is not my thing .. I was thinking actual trailer .. but I will check out my friends ... thanks :)
The hidden hitches are for a trailer, the application I am looking to use it for will require MORE re-enforcing as there will be more tongue weigh on using it as a rack as opposed to the intended purpose of the hitch, which is the pull weight. I think that if you're looking to use it simply to pull a trailer you are going to have an easier go at it then I am. Best of luck, and I'd love to see/hear what you come up with.

Thanks! .. Once I start I will most certainly post the progress here .. but for that I need to get my lazy behind in gear .. and thats where the problem starts 😆

Hi Ulrich, Any update with the trailer hitch?. I'm looking around for the trailer hitch to haul the trailer with the Hobie Tandem Island around on my Bagger.
