Well, folks, the whining sound from the new transmission is … distracting. Anyone with any ideas as to the cause… I’m all ears. I’ll make another inquiry with the dealer to confirm oil of the correct specification was filled, plus the quantity. But crikey ! The whining noise is distracting 🫤

Transmission replaced folks. The service advisor reported the change out was relatively straight forward. That said, the entire engine had to be removed from the bike in order for the transmission to be swapped. The technician has done a great job and the bike operates as it should, complete...

Agreed... I thought the plastic mount looked out-of-keeping with the rest of the R18's build quality. I guess I might have shot myself in the foot... being unable to mount it centrally. The off-centre mount doesn't distract... thankfully. The BMW logo would be cool. I tried to buy the Triumph...

Interesting nevertheless... on a positive note, he was quick to jump to the final statement, "replace transmission" ... then he set about explaining the need for a series of tests to eliminate other causative issues. It was a supportive outcome for which I'm grateful.

didn't get eyes on the document, but the fellow was reading from the laptop and then to the service technician who was equally aghast at Berlin's replacement recommendation. Still waiting for the formal advice from the dealer that the new transmission is ordered. Time to hurry up and wait....
