Hi everybody, we passed through the same discussion in the German R18 Forum. Tyres are always a personal issue and I will not comment on this.
But from the looks, it looks just great.
I have included in the Wiki an article with more and better pictures from a biker who made an extra effort...
Hi Brett, can you please make some pictures of your bike where it is seen from different angles completely? I would like to see how the add. lights add to the perspective of the bike
To keep you up-to-date here you see the prototype of the saddle bag from https://www.spirit-leather.de/index.php/en/
Obviously this only works when you have slip-ons
Back to the original headline about the Roctane headlight. I have finished the article now.
Description in the R18 Repair Wiki on how to convert the headlight on an R18 to a Roctane headlight.
This was actually an intensive conversion with a lot of documentation. I hope I can help you with...
Since this is part of the conversion from an R18 to a Roctane headlight, but at the same time an independent and very difficult part, I have written a separate guide for it in the repair Wiki.
https://www.r1800wiki.org/en/2024/07/11/tachometer-zerlegen/
Ok, everybody. Since I have received several messages from different people waiting desperately for first results, I have started to write this article. But I am still waiting for 2 pieces to be shipped so I cannot be 100% sure.
What I can tell you nevertheless is that the parts were around €700...
Hi Kate, I have progressed a lot but it seems that the housing of the speedometer in the Roctance headlight is different to the housing holder of the R18 cup. Do you have access to an explosive drawing of the Roctane headlight speedometer holder?
Hi Brett, it is a list of 8-10 pieces. I do not want to publish it here before I have done it myself End of June in order to avoid to publish possibly not complete information. If you want to have the information beforehand (with a disclaimer from my side) I can send it to you by message or...
Yes, surprising. Although one reason might be fiddeling with that part is great mechanical responsibility - like with the engine. I know that LMC took it very serious and did a lot of temperature tests. Main issue would be BMW warranty when engine problems occur ...
I agree with you there. Nothing you did wrong there. Excellent choice and anyone you can afford a R18 can afford LMC :)
The only reason I am writing this because I am searching for a real custom solution. Do not forget; I am in Germany. Whereas something is unique in the US, you might see...
Let me do a summary on this topic.
A good starting point would be reading this article about oil temperature on the BMW R18:
https://www.r1800wiki.org/en/2024/03/18/oeltemperatur/
We all know how our oil cooler looks like. A piece of plastic on the cooler itself and the whole part visually...
Does anybody know the manufacturer of this oil cooler in the US? I am considering putting two of these (one with thermostat, one with pressure gauge) either below each cylinder (and a cool horn where the cooler is now) or instead of where the cooler is at the moment (size is 57mm diameter and...
Hello everybody, I found a dealer in Germany who dismantled both the headlight of a roctane and an R18 to determine the differences. He came up with only a few parts (most can be reused) and we talk about USD600. I have received all parts and will work on this end of June. I even got the pages...
