Headlight of the Roctane for the R18 (Classic)

I just recently saw this R18 in Facebook. Has anybody transferred the headlight of the Roctane to a R18 (Classic) already and can tell me the part numbers needed? Obviously I would try to reuse as much of the parts which are on the R18 already (e.g. I was told that the speedometer should fit...

    Right to repair

I have a question to our US-friends here. Would the right-to-repair legislation in some states of the US allow you (in some states) to demand the BMW original maintenance and repair manuals for the R18 from BMW directly which in the past they offered as DVD but nowadays are only available for...

Is there a BMW shop manual out for our bikes yet? Or, an electronic version?

what is clunky? I do not mean this negatively but to look for improvements... certainly it is not a professionally designed page. At the moment content is more important than optics

The Maintenance and Repair-Wiki was now extended by the exchange of brake fluid section Change brake fluid – BMW R18 repair manual – maintenance workshop manual (r1800wiki.org)

Poll about Final Drive (Bevel Gear) Oil Spillage on the rim and tyre

Hello everybody, now I can shed some light on the issue because my R18 just came back from the official BMW repair centre in Germany. The oil spillage as you see on the picture below was caused by a faulty rotary shaft seal (Wellendichtring). When opened it was clear that there is a leakage...

    ProRace Shorties

This is what it looks like with the ProRace Shorty exhaust. The sound is there as it should be. Does credit to an old Hanomag or Lanz tractor. Sound is here: https://www.r1800wiki.org/.../2023/06/20230617_132647.mp4 But in reality much better

Poll about Final Drive (Bevel Gear) Oil Spillage on the rim and tyre

Since it is leaking here as well, I think we are back to the issue of the final drive.

Final Drive (Bevel Gear) Oil Spillage on the rim and tire - very dangerous

According to the maintenance plan https://www.r1800wiki.org/2022/12/30/wartungsplan-r18/ and please correct me, if I am wrong, the final drive is serviced the first time at 12.000 miles/20.000km which is point 7 on the list. But it might be included in the first inspection at 600 mls but not...

Final Drive (Bevel Gear) Oil Spillage on the rim and tire - very dangerous

I keep you up-to-date. No, the bikes come from different dealers. Mine except for the first service at 700 miles has not had a proper service yet. So the final drive is still untouched coming out from the factory.

Final Drive (Bevel Gear) Oil Spillage on the rim and tire - very dangerous

ok, it works in other parts of the forum. Please respond there: https://www.r18forums.com/threads/poll-about-final-drive-bevel-gear-oil-spillage-on-the-rim-and-tyre.2232/ In the German poll 36% are affected which is gruesome.

Poll about Final Drive (Bevel Gear) Oil Spillage on the rim and tyre

Dear all, I want to ask you if you have in the US the same problem of oil spillage of the final drive as in Germany. On our German Forum we have an opinion poll running and of 33 participants up-to-now 12! have this problem (including me, pictures are from me). We talk here about a...

Final Drive (Bevel Gear) Oil Spillage on the rim and tire - very dangerous

Could you therefore please create a separate poll thread where you link to this thread and write in the poll: I have oil spillage in the final drive/bevel gear similar to the posted pictures YES NO

Final Drive (Bevel Gear) Oil Spillage on the rim and tire - very dangerous

No, there with the drop-down only appears 'edit thread' and if I select it, I only can change the title. I see nothing which would permit me to create a poll

Spoke rims of the BMW R18 Classic for the BMW R18

Now that is a very personal thing to evaluate. I find the bike more stable and easier to ride but since I am not a fast rider (hell, we are in Germany and I do not like to go above 100 miles/h) my opinion might not be relevant. For the visual aspect and now driving it for 3 months like this...
