I watched that video and I can tell you mine are attached much more securely than what he shows. I attempted using the same nylon pry tool and they didn’t budge.
You can leave the catalyst and flapper (fin?) by leaving the headpipes intact. The mufflers are a simple removal and you can modify or replace them without any emissions concerns.
You’ll never pull a dent out of one of those mufflers. The metal is far too thick.
I’d start keeping an eye on eBay for a replacement. There are plenty of takeoffs out there. I know a guy that had two sets with zero miles on them.
I took one look at the uncovered fuse box on my R18 and said to myself WTF?
It seemed to me that electrical component corrosion is only a matter of time on these bikes.
Do you have any pictures of this supposed damage? Because it sounds like someone who doesn’t want to deal with the hassle and potential mess from mounting and dismounting tires with beads.
I have been using the beads in all of my bikes for over thirty years now. I have read all the negative comments and I don’t buy any of them. My tire life is exceptional, my wheels are not scarred by weights and they never go out of balance.
I ordered those titanium emblems and they were unable to produce them. They offered aluminum, brass and titanium. I ended up getting chrome plated steel. Not at all what I expected.
