One other thing:
Fresh oil, if filled to the very top of the sight glass, will make it look like there's no oil, as the oil is semi-clear (light amber color).
Double-check that you didn't overfill by putting your bike on its sidestand, then slowly and carefully, tip it upwards while observing...
Ah, "Rotten Groton".
I went to SUBSCOL (Naval Submarine School) way back in 2007. The first place I've ever seen multiple Dunkin Doughnuts in a single town! 🤣

Just put your bike back up straight and slowly put in a couple ounces at a time.
Like Jim said, these sight glasses are SLOOOW to respond to oil level changes. It will likely take 10-20 seconds from pour to response of the sight glass, hence doing a slow pour of a bit at a time.

Agreed!
The stable currently has:
1976 Honda CB500t (wifey's)
2003 BMW r1200CLC
2004 BMW 1150rt
2022 BMW R18TC (Alcina)
And, plenty more space for more.

Kevin,
If the switch ever comes back off, you can try this glue:
I bought it for its intended purpose, but quickly found that it works on every plastic surface I've tried. This stuff is CRAZY strong and sets up EXTREMELY quick!
This is what I'll be using if any switches, etc., break on...
I second this. Magnison-Moss allows owners to do their own work, but on parts that affect other functionality (e.g. aftermarket oil coolers), BMW might be in the right to deny a warranty claim if something goes wrong with the engine, and oil cooling is suspected.
What I'd want to know before...
Well...sure 🤷♂️
But, even with all the enhancements the "big boxer" can receive, so long as it remains a pushrod design, it will never enter "superbike" status.
When you say "superbike", I think of the Hayabusa, Panagale, Ninja H2R, S1100RR and others.
Heck, the big boxer could even get a...
I don't think the "big boxer" will ever be kitted out on a superbike for two major reasons:
They use pushrod valves, and there is no counterbalancer on the crankshaft.
Pushrod valves are simply not designed to handle the high RPM demands that overhead cam engines can. Rather, pushrods like to...
Only thing I know about Goldwings is that their engines are broken.
I mean...who TF puts a COUNTERBALANCER on a boxer engine?!?!?!
Let that boxer VIBRATE like nature intended!
